Suzanna Wellink
Suzanna’s Story
Suzanna Wellink is a Sydney-based vocalist who has performed to great acclaim at some of the most prestigious jazz festivals in Europe including Montreux, Jazz-à-Vienne, Perugia and Berlin.
The renowned musician and educator, the late Rory J Thomas OAM and Chevalier in the Order of Arts & Letters (France) noticed Suzanna’s talent when she was 15 years old and became her mentor and musical accompanist until he passed away in December 2010. Rory had previously mentored the great vocalist, Kerrie Biddell.
Suzanna’s versatility allows her to express her talent across a number of musical genres and she is equally at home out the front of a big band or in a duo. She has worked as a musician-in-residence on cruise ships and is in demand for corporate functions.
Suzanna studied vocal technique under educator and musician Nina Harris and holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Music (Performance) from the Australian Institute of Music.
In 2015, Suzanna received an ArtStart Grant from the Australia Council, which allowed her to enhance her performance and composing skills by working with mentors in Japan, France and Spain.
